Speaking and listening activity

7 Apr

This activity is a good warm up for speaking and listening and could be used as an ice breaker or extension during assessments for verbal communication. An additional element at higher levels can be to get the students to plan what they’re going to include by using written plans such as mind maps and spider diagrams.

Included below are a list of topics to use, change them accordingly to fit your subject if you wish. Print off several sets and chop up, then put into envelopes for students to dip into and select topics. Students can either select a topic each and chat in groups or select one topic per group and discuss that topic. The topics included below are informal but they can easily be changed to formal topics such as celebrities as role models and will world hunger ever be irradiated for example.
