Active learning resource

11 Mar

This idea for active learning from Lori at conversationsinliteracy blog is an inventive method to get learners on task, working together and thinking immediately. The activity can be used for assessing speaking and listening and writing skills

Guidance for success is:

1. Choose a topic for discussion or research.
2. Place the topic or subject in the centre of a big sheet/length of paper.
3. Give each learner a different coloured pen/felt tip.
4. Ask learners to discuss and note on the paper what they know, questions, theories, ideas.
5. The tutor can add to the work by writing further questions on the paper and
writing feedback on the piece.
6. Students can present their plans/findings to the rest of the class in a discussion.
